Liburnia Jazz Festival

The 17th Liburnia Jazz Festival this year announces a number of concerts for fans of good music, especially jazz. The place and time of this event are well known to numerous faithful jazz pilgrims - Opatija, always for the first weekend in July (07-09. 07).

With morning and evening jazz concerts at hotel’s terraces overlooking the astonishing sea, as well with national and world jazz stars at the Summer Stage, Liburnia Jazz presents 9 concerts on 7 stages. Besides all this, Liburnia Jazz will also present the new electric and acoustic guitar line at the Yamaha Showroom and long waited Master Guitar Workshop hosted by Elvis Stanić.

The festival starts on Friday, 07.07. at the Big Scene of Open Air Summer Stage with Richard Bona Mandekan Cubano.

Bona performed at the Liburnia Jazz Festival in 2006., and this concert has been claimed by journalists as a “concert of the year” in Croatia. After eleven years, it's about time we hear him again in Opatija.

Richard Bona has been described as one of the world's greatest musical discoveries. He is the absolute master of his art, a melodic, and of a rare elegance and sensibility, an exciting singer and a member of the exclusive "best bass world" club. Journalists describe it in one word: a jewel -  and we are proud to have this jewel embedded in the crown of this year's Festival.

As an introduction to this year's Liburnia Jazz Festival, at the small Scene of the Open Air Theatre, young musicians from the Art School M.B. Rašana from Labin will present their music at the concert entitled The Youth Carries Jazz On”.

On Saturday, 08. 07. we start early, at 11 am Jed Becker Blues Band will play the blues  at the Opatija Market, and Mel & Ben will play on the terrace of the Hotel Kvarner for the jazz breakfast.

At 20 h Big Band Samobor plays on the terrace of theHotel Palace, and on 21.30h the Cubismo will put the Summer Stage on fire!

On Sunday, 09.07.”, at the Cultural Centre “Gervais” , we will present The Yamaha Guitar Showroom with a selection of Yamaha's unique REVSTAR electric guitars and THR hybrid tubes amps,  Elvis Stanić will there host the Master Guitar Workshop, and  at the terrace of Hotel Kvarner at 21h , Elvis Stanić Group will perform their latin/mediterranean jazz and close this year’s Liburnia Jazz edition.
