The Bleeding Flares are an independent rock n roll band from Melbourne, Australia. In the tradition of Australian forerunners such as Radio Birdman, early AC/DC and The Birthday Party, The Bleeding Flares live show and sound has been described as being raw and confronting. Primitive, pounding guitar and drum rhythms reminiscent of The Stooges or Mc5 are coloured with male and female vocals and free form saxophone. Reverberated country guitar freak outs influenced by Black Lips and Country Teasers, are a mainstay of the band as well. Sounds of the 60's and 70's garage and punk ring through, but striving for originality, the band rejects all forms of strict decade mimicking and revivalist ideals. The band, consisting of Billy Patching(lead vocals), Dan Hallpike(guitar), Gab Potocnik(drums), Deon Slaviero(bass guitar) and Alannah Dixon(vocals) are currently releasing a series of vinyl singles and videos in preparation for the release of their debut album. In November they will be taking their chaotic display of rock n roll over to Europe for the first time, to tour the continent extensively.
